art-as-activism
Miranda believes art is a powerful tool for change, and activism is at the core of everything she creates—from the female-centered stories in her musicals to the songs she writes and performs. Her commitment extends beyond the stage: she writes and sings original protest songs at rallies, organizes pop-up concerts to raise funds for women-led organizations, and leads workshops that help others connect to their voices and creative fire.

Beginning with an all-female/femme dance party for reproductive rights, which raised $14,000 for abortion clinics in the South, Miranda and her partner, Laura Benanti, have since collaborated on various pop-up performances and fundraisers to support female-led organizations.
These pop-up concert fundraisers, featuring a diverse collective of female Broadway-caliber performers and musicians, showcase Miranda's original music and directly raise funds for organizations such as Maestra, Open Stage, Black Women's Blueprint, and the Kamala Harris Campaign.
