The Collective
In addition to writing music for theatre that centers on diverse women’s stories, Miranda is deeply invested in creating spaces for women to come together in a spirit of collaboration and activism.​
This value shows up in many aspects of Miranda's life, from her coaching practice to the creative workshops she leads. A pivotal moment in this journey was with her partner, Laura Benanti. The first time they worked together, they joined forces with two other women in Miranda's town to create an all-female/femme dance party for reproductive rights. The event raised $14,000 for abortion clinics in the South, marking the beginning of her mission of uniting women. This continued spirit of unity is woven into all of Miranda's work, inspiring collective action in every project.

In September, The Collective got together at The Racket and City Winery, singing Miranda's songs to raise money for the Kamala Harris campaign.
